A few weekends ago we decided to take a 1.5 hour drive out to the Midwest Country-side to do some apple picking before the weather turned bad. The day was forecasted to be raining and wet, but praise God! it was perfect weather. It turned out to be a really great day. We picked a stack of apples (and gave them away to our neighbours, made apple pie and ate it every day for weeks), got to pet animals, ate apple cinnamon donuts and got to shop at a country barn kinda shop.
Here are my thoughts on the whole thing:
1. Wow. It was really run and the kids loved it. The apples (Gala) were really yummy, and it was great to eat them straight from the tree. I think I ate 5 apples. Each kid ate at least 3 each (and err. wasted many more than that).
2. I can't believe the whole farm looks so much like the american farms look like in TV (like Smallville or something). It's as if they model the farms after watching heaps and heaps of American TV (or maybe American TV is err ... reflective of their culture and decoration ... can't be .. ;)). If we were to head to a farm that looked like this in Australia, it would just be sooo pretentious/try hard. Everything is stylised to make it have that errr. "Country" look. Nice though.
3. I can't believe that good weather is ending. Food was great and very very yummy. Ah. I wish could have an apple cinnamon right now.
Anyways. I've posted the pics on facebook. You can see them here: Facebook Album
